COMMUNITY EVENTS
The Slocan Lake Garden Society participates at each of the following community events to represent and promote the Kohan Reflection Garden:
Hills Garlic Festival – Held each September at Centennial Park in New Denver, the festival started in Hills and quickly grew to the major and successful event it is today, bringing vendors and shoppers from across BC each year. The Slocan Lake Garden Society participates in the Garlic Festival with a Garden information kiosk and the sale of Fall bulbs.
Friday Market – Happens in the heart of New Denver every Friday from June to September. The event features locally grown fruit, vegetables, flowers and plants, delicious baked goods and bread; artisans from all over the Kootenays come with their wares. The Slocan Lake Garden Society sets up a booth each Friday to promote the Kohan Reflection Garden, encourage memberships, accept donations, and offer garden-related items for sale.
Valhalla Fine Arts – This charitable organization provides music, theatre and dance programs to students of all ages through summer and after-school programs. Talented teachers and their keen students from the Suzuki Valhalla Institute came together during the 2021 summer for two socially distanced lunchtime recitals in the Kohan Reflection Garden.
