The Slocan Lake Garden Society (SLGS) was formed in 1989 for the purposes of creating the Kohan Reflection Garden  along the shore of Slocan Lake and at the south end of "The Orchard".

The Society is entirely volunteer run. The Garden maintenance and upgrading is funded via local fundraising initiatives, government grants, municipal contributions, employment programs, rental revenues, as well as donations. The Society has also formed a Legacy Fund dedicated to ensuring the long term viability of the Garden.

The Garden sits on land owned by the Village of New Denver, but is dedicated to the preserving the memories of those interned there.

SLGS is also a federal Charity and issues tax receipts for donations over $25.00.
